Extra or oversized baggage
Arrange extra checked baggage
You decide how many kilos of hold baggage you’d like to bring. After booking your ticket, you can still buy additional items of checked baggage (up to 23 kg per item) via My Trip. When purchasing it at least 24 hours before departure, you’ll pay:
- between EUR 20 and EUR 70 on flights within Europe;
- between EUR 30 and EUR 240 on intercontinental flights.
Want to purchase extra checked luggage within 24 hours before departure? You can still arrange it online via My Trip, but you will now have to pay the fee for excess baggage.
Are you a Flying Blue member?
As a Flying Blue Explorer, you’ll receive a discount up to EUR 10 on the first extra item of checked baggage when you purchase it at least 24 hours before departure. If you’re a Flying Blue Silver, Gold, or Platinum member, you can always bring 1 extra item of checked baggage. Note that this is only applicable when you travel Economy Class and your flight is operated by KLM or Air France.
Excess baggage fee
Before you leave for the airport, make sure that your luggage meets the requirements to avoid any unwelcome surprises. If you did pack a little more than expected and it turns out that your baggage is heavier or larger than allowed, we’ll have to charge an excess fee:
- between EUR 70 and EUR 200 on flights within Europe;
- between EUR 75 and EUR 300 on intercontinental flights.
The maximum weight and size of excess baggage is 32 kg and 300 cm (length + width + height).
